Taking Things Out

Besides standing in things, our other favorite pastime these days is taking things out of whatever they are in.

Even better... when we can take things out of it and then get in it!

The Coolest Place To Be

Apparently, in it, (no matter what it is) is the coolest place to be these days.

A Year Ago Today

Whew! I had a great day of scrap-booking with a few of my friends over here at our house. I have the most awesome table for spreading out! But I am exhausted! So I am copping-out on a real post tonight with a picture from a year ago.

This time last year Lil and I were still in California and Daddy was far away in Georgia. This year, Daddy is far away again but this time we are in North Carolina and he is in Louisiana!

We love you Jacob.

Something Cuter to Look At

Sorry you had to look at my mug so long! Here, look at Lily instead.

She's so funny... this is how I found her today:

She wasn't complaining though. Not like the cart incident. She has been known to push that car or her little stroller up to the computer desk to try to climb up on the chair. Silly Girl has no fear!

I Love Photoshop

Wanna see what I can do?

Open each picture in it's own tab and click back and forth between them. I dare you.

Photoshop can make any picture look better!

I big-pink-puffy-heart Photoshop!

Bowling, Crafting and a Quiet House

What a combination.

Jacob left this morning. My house is quiet tonight.

I went bowling with some of the other FRG leaders in our BN last night... a team building exercise. We were all supposed to wear crazy hats and silly socks. See below:

Then we gave each other silly names on the scoreboard. Did you see my funky hat above? I got to be called Dora. ;)

And check out what Dora did:

I believe that is called a turkey! It was very exciting... I couldn't hardly believe it! And then this happened:

I can tell you right now, that was the best bowling game of my life. And I doubt I'll ever be able to repeat it.

In CraftyLand, I am going to a baby shower tomorrow. But I just learned about the shower yesterday, so I made this little critter this afternoon:

He's about eight inches long and as I was stuffing him I adding a few little jingle bells so he rattles sweetly. Lily gave him a test run for me and heartily approves.

And now that Lil is in her bigger car seat (did I tell you we got her a convertible car seat?) she gets irritated by the straps on her neck so I whipped out these velcroed strap covers this evening. I love being crafty. Recently Linda, dubbed me the Craft Maven and I have enthusiastically embraced the title. Though she's pretty darn crafty herself! Linda if you are out there... I'd like to commission a roll for my dpns.

Auntie Stevie

...is having a birthday today.

(Lil is seven months here.)

My girls are March Babies! :)
Happy Birthday Auntie Stevie!

Crafty Corner

Today in the crafty corner we have a lovely little crocheted bunny. In light of the fact that Easter is right around the corner.

The reality of it, is that I teach knitting once a week and there is a darling young lady (she's three) named Devlin who plays with Lily and doesn't complain one little bit that I am monopolizing her mom and older sister for an hour. So I made the bunny for Devlin as a thank you, you're-sweet-and-I-appreciate-you kind of gift.

I gave Devlin the bunny this afternoon at knitting.

I got a big hug!

I think she liked it. :)

Lily Antics

Lily and I went out to work on the BN volunteer gifts with some of the other FRG leaders today. I'm sure you will recognize our sweet friend Michaela. She and Lily are the best of friends... that is, until one has a toy the other wants.

My daughter is a bully. Here she is stealing the cart:

Thief.

Then she climbed into the cart... but couldn't get out. Then she got mad.

So she tried to use the chair next to her to get down... but had to stand on the very edge of the cart.

Hmmm, but what to do with the feet?

And then the evil mommy took pity on the poor darling child and stopped taking pictures to help her down.

And they all lived Happily Ever After. The End.

Rerun

Remember this picture?

I made the poor baby do the whole thing again!

Because I'm like that.

Have you ever seen her ears before? ...not sure I ever had either.

I really love my new camera!

Why does blogger...

...upload pictures in backwards order?

oops... way over exposed!

I'm in Love!

Meet my new baby!

No, I'm not pregnant.

My birthday present arrived yesterday and I am in love. (Once again, my birthday is not until May, but after taking Lil's birthday pictures Jacob agreed that I needed a better camera and when he suggested that my birthday was approaching I jumped all over it!) Of course UPS delivered my new Canon 40D at 7:00 pm yesterday evening so I didn't get much opportunity to play with it last night.

And the light of midday is not my favorite so I'll have to wait until later today to do some more playing... or pray it gets overcast. One or the other. :) So far we only got a few shots at the playground before the wind got too strong and ran us back inside.

And for those of you noticing that my sewing machine is (once again) occupying the dinning room table, I am helping decorate canvas bags for the BN volunteers. Nothing too exciting. I know, I'm bummed too.

Maybe later.

She's cute, but...

I've got to find a new time of day to blog. By the time I get Lil down to bed, I'm tired and I end up rushing a post at the computer before I go veg out in front of the TV. Notice you've been getting a whole bunch of pics lately.... They are easy, but you must be getting tired of looking at my kid by now.

We had a great visit with Gramma and look forward to seeing her and the rest of mi familia over the Fourth of July weekend. That will be part of Jake's block leave before he takes another turn overseas. We do know he will be headed to Afghanistan. But as usual, more than that we can't say....

Somebody told me once that the Army doesn't lie, the truth just changes.

Short term, we are a week away from a practice deployment. Jacob will be headed to JRTC at lovely Fort Polk next Thursday for three weeks... much shorter than I had originally anticipated, which is nice.

And since I can't resist a picture:

I certainly can't wear yellow, but she looks sweet in it.

Me and My Dad

circa 1980

I love you Daddy!

A Bit of This and That

Gramma left today. :( But she misses Grandpa and Uncle Jake so we understand. We'll see her again in July.

Lily now has a fourth tooth, and its not the top left... its the bottom left lateral incisor.

Lily can take four steps before she falls off balance.

I ordered my birthday present on Sunday and am anxiously awaiting it's arrival. What's that you say? My birthday isn't until May? Well, you're right... but I wanted it now. I'll share as soon as it gets here.

Free Bird

Let me just start by saying Mom is here for another night. Her flight out of Fayetteville was delayed so much that she was going to miss her connecting flight and there were no other flights to Sacramento tonight. So she has been re-booked for tomorrow. I'm not all that sad about it.

And now the real meat of the post:

If you've ever been to a concert you know there is always that one person in the crowd that shouts out "Free Bird" and thinks they are hilarious. (I actually saw Leonard Skynard in concert once and believe me... it was not in the least bit funny.)

My dad is that person.

Oddly enough... it is hilarious when he does it. I don't know why.

This picture is for Dad:

Watch Me Grow

You've heard of taking a new baby's picture every month with the same stuffed animal to see how fast they grow, right?

Well, I recently heard someone talk about taking a child's picture in a grown-up outfit every year near their birthday. So I thought I'd give it a try. And you know you can't beat a little black dress!

We have Gramma for just one more day. :( So I'm off to enjoy her!

Party Girl

Lil's party was wonderful! I'm so glad my mom was here, she was a HUGE help. And everybody we invited came! We are so blessed!

Lil had a cup cake themed party. It started with a cupcake invitation to go with the cupcake cake. And moved on to the kids playing pin the candle on the cupcake.

Here's some pics of the decorations.

And the food was all of Lele's favorites. Mini pizzas, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (cut into the shape of cupcakes), pinwheels, bugs on a log, fruit salad, chips and pretzels.

The top half of the cupcake cake was all Lil's!

YUM! I kid... she never ate a single bite of hers... she just smashed it to smithereens.

And her current favorite toy is the Little People scooter.

Thank you everybody, for the birthday wishes and all the love you send our way!

One Year Olds

She's a pretty nice blend... if you ask me.

Sara

Happy Birthday Lily!

My girl is One today!

But she is still my little girl. Weighing in at 18.5 lbs she's at the 15th percentile for weight. And her 28.7 inches long comes in just over the 25th percentile. She's small and skinny. But as usual, I am not surprised since she's still only breastfed when she isn't eating table food.

We had a 1:oopm appointment, but refused to take a nap all morning, so we were a little surly. And the four shots (yes, we got the chicken-pox vaccine) and blood draw didn't help much. But the appointment was quick. We were out of there by 1:45 and we got Lele home and down for a nice long nap!

We had dinner at my friend Ruth's house tonight, cake and all. And we'll celebrate again at our house on Saturday for her birthday party!
