Most of us find them annoying at one time or another and the fireants here are already getting busy and starting to drive me crazy.
Don't ask my why I (or the scientist who study ants) wonder about where they live. But somebody did try to find out about ant abodes. They poured plaster (and in a few cases molten aluminum) into ant holes to see just what the ant nest looked like and this is what they dug up:
Creepy, huh.Now you know.

That is awesome Sara! I have been thinking about it randomly ever since i saw your blog last night. So cool! I had no idea that ants dug so deep or made little 'rooms'!
It kinda looks like a cool high rise apartment complex. Creepy but cool.
